Gardner Stevenett

Instruments:
Drums!
A little about yourself:
I started playing drums at the age of seven when my dad recruited my younger brother and I to start our family band, “The Stevenetts”. Our first gig was at an old, run-down movie theater where we performed a few sketchy renditions of Dire Straits tunes and a largely improvised version of Johnny B. Goode for an audience of friends, family and any other poor soul whom my brother and I suckered into buying a ticket on one of our door to door sales excursions. All in all, I guess you could call it a successful first show. After that, we were flung into the world of elementary school talent shows as well the relentless and unforgiving scene of car dealership “Tent Sale” gigs. The world was ours.
However, when I began attending junior high school, I decided that it was in my best interest to resign from The Stevenetts in order to take my musical capabilities to the next level; Punk Rock. Along with my buddies Jason Wilde and Alex Davis, I started a group called “GUF” as a means to express my distaste for the corrupt (and, arguably, fascist) administration at our school. We played a single talent show before disbanding due to political pressure.
High School brought about the rise of the screamo/hardcore scene. On the cutting edge as usual, I started a band along with Peter Wosnik, Casey Romney and Benny Bartling that we named “Rosetta”. We played many a gig at the local park on the west side of the freeway as well as Club BoomVa in Ogden. We recorded a demo and had a few shirts made, but decided to call it a day shortly thereafter (even though I’m pretty sure we have a Myspace page still floating around out there).
